Morchella sceptriformis is a species of fungus in the family Morchellaceae (Ascomycota) 1. It was described as new to science in a 2012 study by Clowez and corresponds to phylogenetic lineage Mes-3 12. Morchella virginiana, described later in the same year by Kuo and colleagues, is conspecific to this taxon 12.

Morchella sceptriformis is a small to medium-sized morel with a conical cap that is 2–5 cm high and 1.5–3 cm wide. The cap is brownish-gray to grayish-brown with lighter ridges and pits. The stem is 3–8 cm long and 0.5–1.5 cm wide, and is whitish to yellowish-brown
